Students will also consider the legal and ethical implications of caring for people in diverse settings.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to demonstrate the application of mindful communication in collaborative practice to create and sustain healing environments;
  • be able to apply legal and ethical principles to nursing practice in diverse settings and contexts;
  • be able to discuss the application of the Caritas® Competencies in a range of settings and contexts; and
  • be able to satisfactorily complete the workplace learning assessments.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Module 1: Environment;
  • Module 2: Frame of reference of care;
  • Module 3: Creating healing environments through communication; and
  • Module 4: Creating healing environments through caring.

Workplace Learning

This subject contains a 25 days Compulsory Workplace Learning component.

Work place learning  - Students obtain and demonstrate valuable professional skills and competencies relevant to their area of professional practice. This learning experience includes opportunities for students to observe and participate in work-based activities. They may undertake work placements in a variety of health services in rural, remote and metropolitan services to ensure that they have the relevant skills and experience to become a registered nurse.
