PSY473 Psychology Research Thesis 2 (16)

This subject, delivered in two parts, provides students with a mentored research experience. Students will learn about research ethics, research methods, and research proposal and report writing. They will develop skills in critical review and appraisal, theory development and testing, study design and data collection, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, written communication in the form of a substantive research report.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to undertake a thorough literature review and complete a written synthesis and appraisal of this literature;
  • be able to identify and suggest appropriate mitigation strategies for ethical risks associated with research;
  • be able to demonstrate knowledge of research methods and sound study design, including how study design can impact on the interpretation of data;
  • be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills of data analysis and interpretation; and
  • be able to effectively communicate the rationale, method, and results of a research project via an APA style research report.
