This subject is designed to allow students, through a course of guided reading, to study a sociological area of their choice in considerable depth. It is also intended to provide the context for further development of the student's dissertation topic. Attention is devoted to both theoretical and substantive aspects. A supervisor with experience or expertise in the chosen field will work with students to map out a program of study. Written assignments provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the issues raised in the reading. The availability of topics is constrained by current staff interests, of which a list may be obtained from the discipline coordinator.
No offerings have been identified for this subject in 2020.
