VPA303 Stage and Screen Project (16)

This subject is the first of two capstone subjects that prepare students to work under expected professional industry standards. Students will contribute from concept to completion on a variety of stage and screen projects in consultation with academic staff and will explore advanced creative skills, procedures and techniques within a professional stage and screen industry context.

Assumed Knowledge

Students will be expected to demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge and skills related to their chosen specialisation (Television, Acting, or Design) specifically related to collaborative stage and screen production and theory.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to interpret an advanced level of practical expertise in their specific stage and screen specialisation;
  • be able to effectively contribute to the development of ideas from concept to completion, with an emphasis on industry standard best practices;
  • be able to work independently and collaboratively in a variety of stage and screen production environments;
  • be able to sustain professional, sustainable and ethically responsible behavior in all aspects of stage and screen production;
  • be able to critically reflect on and evaluate their practice; and
  • be able to interpret relevant EH&S and EEO procedures and principles.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • practice in the students' area of stage and screen specialisation by means of workshops and prescribed project work;
  • developing creative projects from concept to final presentation applying excepted industry standards;
  • maintaining quality, continuity and energy of practice throughout a theatre season or television series;
  • professional behavior in stage and screen practice;
  • the professional stage and screen environment; and
  • independent and collaborative practice in stage and screen production.
