Course duration referenced below is the effective time taken to complete a course when studied full time (full time equivalent duration). At Charles Sturt the standard calendar refers to 32 points a session over a 2 session calendar year. The Actual Duration is the time taken to complete the course following the prescribed enrolment pattern. A course's actual duration can be affected by the session calendar (number of sessions undertaken per year) and/or mode (full time, part time or mixed) and credit packages which may have been granted unpon admission. Therefore, depending on the prescribed enrolment pattern, mode, calendar utilised and credit awarded a course may take less time or more time to complete than the duration noted as full time equivalent years. A Bachelors or Masters (or AQF equivalent) degree in any discipline.
OR
Work experience at a professional level of a minimum of 10 years full time equivalence in an information or cultural organisation such as an academic, public, school or corporate library, data or archival centre, government information agency, museum, gallery or other information or cultural organisation will be considered
AND
English Language Proficiency

A completed Bachelor or Masters degree (or AQF equivalent).
OR
Demonstrated work experience at a professional level of a minimum of 3 years full time equivalence within the field of study or equivalent

The Master, Graduate Diploma [Exit Point Only] and Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points.
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 32 points.
MASTER OF INFORMATION STUDIES (with specialisations)

The course consists of nine (9) core subjects (64 points) and four (4) restricted elective subjects (32 points) chosen from those listed in the Specialisations.
Available specialisations include Children's Librarianship, Data Management, Information Architecture, Information Management, Leadership, Librarianship, and Records & Archives Management. Subjects have a value of 8 points unless otherwise specified.

The core comprises seven (7) standard (8-point) subjects and two (2) 4-point subjects. This is the equivalent of eight (8) standard (8-point) subjects.

Upon successful completion of the above core subjects, students are eligible to exit the Masters course with the GRADUATE DIPLOMA OF INFORMATION STUDIES.
Upon successful completion of INF404 Foundations for Information Studies plus any three (3) standard 8-point subjects in the Master of Information Studies course (including those chosen from the specialisation subjects), students are eligible to graduate with the GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN INFORMATION STUDIES.
Having completed all core subjects listed above, students continuing in the Master of Information Studies are required to complete a further four (4) restricted elective subjects.
Students have the option to complete a general Master of Information Studies degree, or to complete the requirements of one of the specialisations detailed below, and graduate with a Master of Information Studies (specialisation).

Graduates of the Records and Archives Management specialisation may also be admitted to professional membership of the Australian Society of Archivists.
