EHR518 Developing the Clinical Exercise Practitioner (8)

In Australia, Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals that prescribe clinical exercise interventions for people at high-risk of developing, or with existing, chronic and complex medical conditions and/or injuries. This subject will develop student's understanding of the Exercise Physiology profession and build a foundation for effective clinical practice and study across the course. Emphasis is placed on developing students' comprehension of: the national and international health care contexts; Exercise Physiology profession in Australia; Exercise Physiology Scope of Practice; Exercise Physiology Code of Conduct and Ethical Practice; Medicare; multidisciplinary care; and understanding research in evidence based practice. After completing this subject, students will have acquired foundational knowledge and skills related to the Exercise Physiology profession and will be able to articulate a professional identity for clinical practice as an individual practitioner and member of a multidisciplinary care team. Students will also be enabled to work across a range of employment settings, self-evaluate their professional learning needs, and apply frameworks for professional behaviour, clinical decision making, and evidence-based clinical practice.
