This subject examines K-6 curriculum documents for science and technology and requires students to work collaboratively in designing and developing a science and technology program of learning for school students in Years K-6. Students will apply their knowledge of learning theory, lesson and unit design and assessment of, and for, learning, to develop a sequence of learning activities that engage K-6 students in science and technology learning and use pedagogies afforded by scientific and educational technologies. Contemporary theories of learning in science and technology, including constructivist and conceptual change perspectives, will be explored in this subject. The teaching and learning of science and technology through learner-centered approaches and curriculum integration is promoted. Students will be required to integrate scientific and technological concepts, the skills and processes of conducting scientific investigations and designing and producing solutions, literacy, numeracy, and learning across the curriculum content into their science and technology planning and teaching.
