This subject will facilitate the students learning about assessment and the critique and application of assessment strategies and tools in clinical education. The student will be encouraged to use the results of assessment to contribute to continuous improvement in clinical teaching practice. The differences and similarities of assessment within curricula will be contrasted and compared and students will be encouraged to design and critically evaluate assessment techniques from their workplace. The role of assessment in influencing student learning behaviour and the learning process will be explored including the provision of feedback and the engagement of learners in self-assessment and peer review. The relationship between Continuing Professional Development, assessment and registration in health professions will be introduced in this subject and re-visited in HLT542 Professional Practice in Clinical Education.
