JST455 Wildfire Investigation provides a foundational background and encourages a deeper appreciation for the importance of capturing critical information relevant to wildfire investigation. Students will be equipped with an overview of the issues surrounding wildfire investigation, including the initial establishment of wildfire cause and origin, and scene preservation specific to wildfire. The subject will also provide an overview of wildfire arson and the need to engage with key stakeholders. The issue of forest sustainability will also be discussed in relation to the role of fire in local ecology, and the practice of regularly reducing fuel load to prevent wildfires destroying forests and related areas.
