This subject will explore the professional responsibility of the Nurse Practitioner in leading advanced clinical and professional practice. This will include exploring the history and development of advanced practice within the rural and remote, national and international healthcare environment. Students will critically appraise the political, ethical, professional and legal aspects of their role. This will include accountability, legislation, licensure, certification and credentialing. The need to apply an evidence based practice model to underpin nursing practice will be examined and students will engage in leadership activities to further develop knowledge and skills to lead advanced nursing practice.
