Assumed Knowledge

Prior completion of or concurrent enrolment in PSY533 and PSY534. Students who do not satisfy these criteria are required to obtain the Course Directors approval prior to enrolling in this subject.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to demonstrate satisfactory performance on supervisor evaluation;
  • be able to design and implement psychotherapeutic interventions for clients with a range of complex and comorbid psychological conditions;
  • be able to reflect on the theoretical implications of treatment outcomes relative to case presentation/formulation, and thus evaluate implications for theories of psychopathology of treatment success, and consider potential implications of treatment failures on both theory and practice;
  • be able to recognise the impact of socio-cultural factors and modify interventions appropriately; and
  • be able to conduct practice in accordance with professional and ethical standards.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Undertaking a placement that will focus on clinical psychology skills in a practical setting
  • The design, implementation and communication of psychological interventions
