Course duration referenced below is the effective time taken to complete a course when studied full time (full time equivalent duration). The Actual Duration is the time taken to complete the course following the prescribed enrolment pattern. A course's actual duration can be affected by the session calendar (number of sessions undertaken per year) and/or mode (full time, part time or mixed) and credit packages which may have been granted upon admission. Therefore, depending on the prescribed enrolment pattern, mode, calendar utilised and credit awarded a course may take less time or more time to complete than the duration noted as full time equivalent years. Admission Criteria

Master of Communication (generic and with specialisations)

Successful completion of a Bachelors Degree or above (or AQF equivalent) in Communication or related discipline with a GPA of 5 (credit average) or above
OR
Successful completion of a Graduate Certificate or above (or AQF equivalent)

Additional Course Requirements

Applicants without tertiary qualifications or with an insufficient GPA must successfully complete the Graduate Certificate of Communication or the Graduate Certificate in Digital Communication prior to admission to the Master of Communication. All subjects completed in the Graduate Certificate will be credited to the Master of Communication.

Graduate Certificate in Communication

A completed Bachelors Degree (or AQF equivalent) in any discipline
OR
Work experience, within the same industry as the course profile, of no less than four years full time equivalent.

Master of Communication (generic and with specialisations)

Students entering the course with an Honours degree, or non Charles Sturt Graduate Certificate, or Graduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Communication will receive 32 points of credit for recognition of prior learning and will only need to complete 64 credit points. Credit awarded may be non-specified core communication credit or designated specialisation credit depending on the field of previous study.  Students entering the course with a completed Charles Sturt Graduate Certificate in any field will receive speicifed credit for the completed subjects, which will ususally equate to the specialisation component of this course.

Without Specialisation

For the Master of Communication without specialisation, students may take any level 4 or 5 subject at Charles Sturt University provided relevant enrolment conditions are satisfied. Electives can be sequenced from a single field or un-sequenced from any field. Students will incorporate perspectives gained their elective study into their capstone project.
