ACC127 Accounting and Financial Literacy (8)

This subject addresses the need for accounting and financial literacy for anyone interested in business. The subject introduces students to key accounting information that business managers and accountants use to make decisions and manage a business. Students will develop skills that enable them to analyse and interpret accounting reports and to communicate the results of this analysis to interested parties. The subject focuses on the use of accounting information rather than on the recording of financial transactions and events (book-keeping). Students will learn various  techniques to enable them to make important business decisions. Students will gain a foundation understanding of accounting as an information system, professional ethics, computer applications, business communication and report writing, through the preparation and basic analysis of financial and management accounting reports. This subject is essential for any business manager and for those seeking to become a professional accountant to empathise with the needs of their client.
