In this subject, students will develop their knowledge of annual accounts to analyse the performance of agribusinesses engaged in primary production and establish management goals for the businesss enterprise and financial performance. On completion of the subject, students will be able to prepare annual operating plans as applied to businesses involved in agriculture and related industries.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to analyse the performance of an agribusiness engaged in primary production using the annual accounts;
  • be able to establish management goals for the improvement of the business enterprise and financial performance; and
  • be able to prepare annual operating plans and budgets including cash flow, statement of comprehensive income, financial position and capital budgeting.

  • Enterprise performance analysis including gross margins;
  • Financial performance indicators - profitability, liquidity and solvency;
  • Benchmarking;
  • Setting management goals;
  • Gross margin budgeting;
  • Partial budget;
  • Financing;
  • Cash flow discounting procedures; and
  • Investment analysis.
