In this subject students will develop a research question, design a project to respond to it, and then explain the design as part of a research proposal. Students are expected to critically analyse existing literature related to their research question to write a literature review that explains how their planned research will build on existing knowledge and its contribution to the field. Students will examine the ethical considerations of research and the requirements of a human research ethics application.

It is expected that ASH401 will be either completed concurrently (by full-time students) or prior (by part-time students) to enrolment in ASH402.
