CCI505 Communication and Creative Industries Practice FT (32)

This subject requires students to complete a substantial research-based project in any, or a mix, of the following formats: creative project with exegesis; industry specific report; scholarly academic thesis; industry specific portfolio with exegesis. Students undertake the project independently with the support of an academic supervisor in an area of scholarly or professional interest. This subject is taken full time over one session.

Assumed Knowledge

It is assumed students attempting this subject have completed an undergraduate degree or have equivalent professional experience and have a research project proposal.

Students should have completed preparatory research methodology subjects such as CCI501.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to position their research-based project in the local and global context of their discipline;
  • be able to interpret theoretical propositions and apply them to the design of and critical reflection upon their own research-based project; and
  • be able to design, execute, and communicate a substantial research-based project or work of scholarship.

  • Supervisor-student relationship expectations
  • Review and amend the research proposal
  • Setting a timeline for the project
  • Meeting Human Research Ethics Committee requirements
  • Structuring the project reporting (dissertation or exegesis)
