Workplace Learning

This subject contains a 11 days Compulsory Workplace Learning component.

140 to 160 hours are required in total.

Clinical experience is a compulsory and important part of the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedicine). Students will need to complete clinical placements (with varying shifts of 8, 10, 12 and 14 hours) in the paramedic and/or healthcare environment. Students will need to demonstrate competency in a variety of different clinical skills and tasks in order to successfully complete this placement. Set workplace learning dates are given to students to complete the hours of clinical placement. Normally the four dates available are February, June/July, October and November. These dates may vary according to ambulance service requirements.

Students need to ensure that adequate preparation has been completed in order for the delivery of safe and effective patient care. All pre-requisite subjects must be successfully completed prior to undertaking clinical placement.

Special Resources

As mentioned in Learning Design, students are required to pay for all costs associated with their workplace learning subject. This includes accommodation and travel.
