This subject explores Australian laws and ethical constructs informing communication practice. The focus is on supporting students ability to work creatively and ethically in designing, constructing and sharing information and content with others.  Professional communicators need to be aware of their public responsibility to engage in sound legal and ethical practice and to understand the legal and ethical issues that apply to their practice.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to identify and communicate an understanding of the Australian laws relevant to communication, media, content creation and design;.
  • be able to apply legal principles to problem scenarios relevant to communication, news and media and design practice; and
  • be able to identify and communicate an understanding of the ethical approaches to professional practice.
