ENG481 Performance Planning and Review - Senior Cadet (6)

In this subject, students are supported in their development as intermediate cadets throughout their placement. They actively identify their roles as intermediate cadet and opportunities suitable for their professional development at placement which clearly shows advancement over their previous performance planning and review subjects. Students set goals and action plans that help them progress towards the best practice in the chosen areas. Progress in their professional development is reviewed through an evidence-based reflection process.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • implement and evaluate individual action plans to manage and align academic and professional workload and develop their professional identity in the areas of industry best practice;
  • analyse the key characteristics that facilitate the effective and systematic management of engineering projects;
  • critique contemporary and historical civil engineering practice in the context of Indigenous and other cultures in Australia;
  • demonstrate initiative, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship through their work practices; and
  • demonstrate use of teamwork and leadership strategies in culturally diverse teams.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Reflective practice
  • Project planning and monitoring
  • Working in diverse teams
  • Innovative engineering practice

Workplace Learning

This subject contains a 200 days Compulsory Workplace Learning component.

This subject is undertaken concurrently with a students senior cadet placement. The student shall draw on their experiences from their work placement to complete the assessment tasks of this subject. The duration of the workplace learning is equivalent to 1500 hours over the course of 12 months.

Special Resources

This subject will be completed while the student is on placement in industry. Industry placements may require travel and/or relocation depending upon the nature and location of the placement.
