ENG581 Performance Planning and Review - Professional Cadet (4)

In this subject, students are supported in their development as professional cadets throughout their placement. They actively identify their roles as professional cadet and opportunities suitable for their professional development at placement which clearly shows advancement over their previous performance planning and review subjects. Students set goals and action plans that help them progress towards the best practice in the chosen areas. Progress in their professional development is reviewed through an evidence-based reflection process.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • execute an action plan to develop their quality of practice from reflections on industry best practice and their academic and professional performance;
  • reflect on the application of systematic approaches to the conduct and management of engineering projects;
  • report and evaluate the application of new developments and innovation in engineering and reflect on their potential to improve your engineering practice; and
  • demonstrate use of strategies for effective membership and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Reflective practice
  • Project planning and monitoring
  • Work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Development and innovation in engineering practice

Workplace Learning

This subject contains a 133 days Compulsory Workplace Learning component.

This subject is undertaken concurrently with the first 8 months of a students professional cadet placement. The student shall draw on their experiences from their work placement to complete the assessment tasks of this subject. The duration of the Workplace Learning, as outlined above, is 1000 hours over 8 months.

Special Resources

This subject will be completed while the student is on placement in industry. Industry placements may require travel and/or relocation depending upon the nature and location of the placement.
