This subject will facilitate the development of respectful oral and written professional communication skills, relevant to healthcare practice. Students will develop skills in communicating with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; people who have communication difficulties; and people who use assisted communication, in a variety of settings. This subject will provide students with foundation communication skills relevant to health professionals and interprofessional practice, enhanced through guided self reflection and personal exploration. Whilst this subject has an emphasis on the language and conventions used in healthcare practice, it will also assist students to develop their academic and digital literacy, and their skills in information and research literacy.
