This subject will provide students with the contextual, professional, scholarly and technological foundations of the body of knowledge underpinning the information disciplines and professions. Professional information settings including libraries, archives, records repositories and other information centres and organizations will be discussed. An introduction to information scholarship and research and current issues in library and information studies practice will follow. The subject will orient students to the MIS program and enable them to develop and refine their individual educational and professional objectives.
