This subject discusses the role and value of research as applied in various information organisations and agencies, with a focus on informing evidence based practice. It examines the role of research in professional practice, the major philosophies of research, the components of a research study, and major research methods and techniques that may apply. This provides students with the background to evaluate the research literature, interpret research results and design their own project in practice.
