ITC579 IT Professional Practice (8)

In this subject, students will learn to reflect upon and practise a number of key academic and workplace professional skills. These include academic writing skills that make use of appropriate referencing techniques, as well as professional workplace behaviour. The subject also introduces several classic ethics theories and provides students with the opportunity to analyse, critique and apply these theories within an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) context. Students will also study the Australian Computer Society Code of Ethics and its application to a workplace context.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • Be able to communicate effectively as an ICT professional to both a professional and general audience;
  • Be able to critically evaluate the roles and responsibilities of an ICT professional;
  • Be able to apply ethical theories to a diverse range of scenarios; and
  • Be able to analyse and evaluate ethical problems from the viewpoint of ICT professionals using the Australian Computer Society Code of Ethics.
