Effective communication with project teams and stakeholders is one of the most influential factors in being able to lead projects effectively.  The subject will critically examine communication theories, styles, structures and techniques; audience selection, message framing, stakeholder identification and problem solving.  Students are encouraged to examine their own as well others' communication styles to gain insight into the process of developing effective communications with stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to evaluate and apply principles and theories of organisational and project communication;
  • be able to identify various project stakeholders and list their communication needs;
  • be able to utilise stakeholder theory analysis to develop effective communication strategies to support and effect implementation of organisational projects;
  • be able to tailor and deliver communication messages via appropriate medium according to audience; and
  • be able to develop communication strategies to build networks of trust and resolve conflicts.
