MGM514 Governance and Decision Making (2)

In this subject students will investigate the principles of good governance, the internal controls and structures that underpin good governance and discuss the benefits of governance in decision making.  The benefits of governance for organisations of all types will be examined and students will be exposed to the pitfalls of poor governance frameworks and how internal controls within organisations can support decision making.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to describe and critically discuss the principles and techniques of governance and their importance in decision making within all types of organisations;
  • be able to describe and analyse how internal systems of control support an organisations governance and aid in decision making; and
  • be able to analyse situations of when governance or lack thereof lead to poor decision making and undesirable outcomes.
