Transition to Practice is designed to further develop a student's competence and capability for practice as an intern pharmacist. This year long subject will include both professional experiences/learning and a capstone experience with options in both activities to allow students to develop their own value proposition in the pharmacy career market. Students studying this subject are assumed to have completed the first three years of the standard enrolment pattern as this knowledge is a critical success factor in achieving professional milestones (assessments of competency) which are necessary to successfully pass this subject. Further, both professional experiences and inter-professional activities will likely involve interaction with patients and health professionals and completing the first three years provides necessary knowledge in many areas such as pathophysiology of diseases, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and structure-function relationships of medications which will help to ensure patient medication safety and protect the reputation of the University, the course, the profession and most importantly, the student.
