This subject has a focus on chronic disease relevant to podiatry practice, with specific attention given to a range of neurological and vascular pathology. Students will explore the physiological, psychological and emotional impact of chronic disease on the person, their family and carers, and the broader community. Analysis of the impact of neurological and vascular pathology will focus attention on a person's functional capability, extending the students' understanding of the complex inter-relationship between physical and mental health. Knowledge developed through this subject will emphasise a holistic perspective on health and wellbeing, and inform students' practice with podiatry clients of all ages.
