This subject prepares students for the business of Podiatry as entry level practitioners, including medico-legal requirements for podiatric practice. Students will gain knowledge of business management to enable development of a business case for the establishment and/or development of a podiatry practice and/or podiatry service. Preparation of a business case will also allow students to focus on their transition to the workforce and reflect on their development of 'soft skills' such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem solving and conflict resolution, which are valued highly by prospective employers. Students will evaluate the professional standards, ethical principles and complaint notifications relevant to podiatry practice. This subject also has a focus on self-care and continuing professional development, to assist students in planning for their personal wellbeing and sustainable practice as a podiatrist.
