This subject extends the study of GIS by developing advanced skills in the complex modelling of spatial data. Subject modules include: 1) Vector and raster analysis, 2) Pattern analysis and interpolation; 3) Terrain analysis;4) Network and least-cost path analysis; 5) Modelling and flowcharting; 6) Watershed analysis. The practical component forms an integral part in developing the necessary skills in GIS modelling. It is assumed students have already had an introduction to GIS techniques. On completion of this subject students have the ability to make sound judgments regarding the appropriate use of spatial modelling, analysis of continuous surfaces, network analysis and raster analysis.
