Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to translate selected passages from the Greek text of the New Testament and other Koine Greek literature;
  • be able to demonstrate facility with Greek vocabulary and grammar;
  • be able to demonstrate competence in exegesis of Greek texts;
  • be able to demonstrate the judicious use of relevant research tools in New Testament studies; and
  • be able to demonstrate self-guided learning, including well developed research, writing and communication skills.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Advanced Greek grammar and syntax
  • Translation of substantial portions of Greek text
  • Advanced exegesis of Koine Greek texts
  • Issues relating to Greek translation and exegesis such as grammar, syntax, special idioms and semantics
