VPA217 Classical Stage Production (8)

In this subject students collaborate to present for public performance production of a selection of classical plays ranging from ancient Greek to Shakespeare to Naturalism. Students are introduced to the requisite research and analysis skills to apply acting and design relative to genre in professional theatrical environments.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to demonstrate a capacity to act or design relative to the genres found in classical theatre;
  • be able to independently research, analyse and interpret story, character and environments;
  • be able to follow the necessary protocols for working in a professional theatre environment;
  • be able to apply fundamental principles of time management, production scheduling and to follow WH&S protocols;
  • demonstrate a capacity to work effectively and cooperatively in groups and be able to take direction; and
  • be able to clearly articulate and demonstrate a personal acting or design process.
