The course is designed for managers who wish to develop their competence in management. The course will: enhance the ability of practitioners to more effectively manage organisations; develop the student's ability to seek and collect appropriate information, to evaluate, analyse and synthesise data and to systematically solve problems, make complex decisions and implement them; sensitise students to recognising and creating opportunities and to develop their skills in using them; teach students how to stay abreast of the developments which are continuously taking place in management theory and how to rationally apply and utilise them; instil attitudes of openness to change and of excellence of performance in the student; and motivate students to keep developing themselves professionally.

Applicants are required to have an undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution or a qualification deemed to be equivalent. Applicants with other academic and/or professional qualifications and/or work experience acceptable to the University will be considered.
Credit is not available for this course. However, if a student can demonstrate competence in up to two subjects by virtue of previous studies in recognised award courses, the student may apply to the Course Coordinator to substitute other subjects. Unlike credit, substitution does not reduce the number of subjects required to complete the course.
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete four compulsory eight-point subjects.
