The course is designed for those engaged in a management or support role in an area of manufacturing industry. The course will enable students to enhance their understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes critical to the maintenance of national and international competitiveness. Skills obtained will include the ability to: identify issues and problems in the area of manufacturing and to provide practical solutions; adapt to international "best practice" by way of skill application; maintain an outward looking and flexible approach to problem solving; understand the importance of keeping abreast of modern technology and its application in maintaining a strategic and competitive advantage.

Distance education with regular face to face sessions

Applicants are required to have an undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution or a qualification deemed to be equivalent. Applicants with other academic and/or professional qualifications and/or work experience acceptable to the University will be considered.
Employer certification of adequate prior learning is taken into account in assessing eligibility for enrolment in the program. Applicants are required to have employer sponsorship. The employer is required to provide in house mentor(s) and in house assessor(s) of each applicant.
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete a total of four compulsory subjects.
Each subject consists of three modules which are taught as short self-contained training courses within industry, and each module requires the student to complete and pass specific assessment tasks.
