Master of Applied Finance


The Master Applied Finance is designed to provide students with a range of educational backgrounds the opportunity to complete graduate level education in financial and funds management.

Students undertake core subjects in finance and select from either of two specialist strands. The first strand is in Financial Institutions Management, and contains specialist subjects nominated by the Australian Institute of Bankers (AIB) for students who aim to meet the educational requirements for membership of the AIB at the Senior Associate level. The second strand is in Funds Management, and provides specialist training in the areas of portfolio construction/management and financial risk management.

Professional recognition

The course satisfies the academic requirements for admission to the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance at the Senior Associate level.

Admission criteria

Applicants are required to have an undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution or a qualification deemed to be equivalent. Applicants with other academic and/or professional qualifications and/or work experience acceptable to the University will be considered.

Credit for previous study

Credit up to a maximum of five subjects of the twelve subject course may be given to a student who has completed equivalent study at a recognised tertiary institution.
