Graduate Certificate in LOTE (Languages Other Than English)

This course is intended to service the professional development of practising or aspiring teachers of LOTE. The LOTE methods studies in the course are of benefit to both and are of increasing importance given the rising number of languages to be offered in schools.

Also available as an intensive full-time nine week course in Summer session.

Course requirements

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete four compulsory subjects (eight subject points each to the total value of 32 subject points) and teaching practicum requirements.

Residential schools

Students should consult the Course Coordinator for details of residential schools.

Practicum

Students will undertake 50 hours of practicum experience (20 hours in Session 1 and 30 hours in Session 2) involving lesson observations followed by analysis/discussion and actual teaching of classes.
