Graduate Certificate in Communication (Print Journalism)

This course exposes students to both theoretical and practical aspects of print journalism and production. It is designed to enhance student's career opportunities by developing advanced writing, reporting and research skills, and to foster an understanding of the issues facing the practice of contemporary journalism.

Admission requirements

Applicants will normally hold an undergraduate qualification and have a demonstrated interest in print journalism and production. In special cases, applicants who can demonstrate equivalent qualifications and experience may be admitted to the course. All applicants to the course will be interviewed.

Credit

There is no credit available for this course. If a student can demonstrate competence in one or two subjects by previous study in a recognised award, they may apply to the Course Coordinator to substitute other subjects. Subject substitution does not reduce the number of subjects required to complete the course. Industry training would not normally be allowed as evidence for student competence in a subject. Subjects for substitution may be drawn from the humanities, social sciences and business and are approved by the Course Coordinator.

Course requirements

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 32 subject points.
