Guide to the Handbook
The Charles Sturt University Handbook is the official Handbook published
each year by the University. It is the official reference book for students
and staff of the University. It includes details of University dates, staff
lists, legislation, details of courses, degree rules and regulations, subject
descriptions and other essential information.
The Handbook has been divided into several main sections, a brief overview
of each appears below.
Section 1 - Charles Sturt University
The first part of the Handbook begins with an introduction to CSU and
its functions, and information on the academic and administrative organisation
of the University.
Board of Governors, Member Advisory Councils and the staff of the University
are listed in this section.
Section 2 - University-wide Services and Facilities
This section overviews the various sections, divisions and offices of
the University as well as various services and facilities offered to students
including library facilities, residential facilities and University Research
Centres.
Section 3 - Financial Information
University fees and other financial information are set out in this
section as well as details on government assistance.
Section 4 - The University Campuses
Section 4 contains information about the main features of CSU's three
foundation campuses at Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst and Wagga Wagga as well
as information about the University's newest campus at Dubbo.
Section 5 - Academic Calendar
The academic calandar sets out the principle dates for the 1999 academic
year as well as principle dates for trimester courses and the Constables
Development Program.
Section 6 - Academic Regulations
The academic regulations which govern Charles Sturt University are detailed
in this section.
Section 7 - Postgraduate courses offered in 1999
This part of the Handbook lists every postgraduate course offered by
Charles Sturt University. Each course entry lists the mode (full-time,
part-time or distance education); the campus where it is offered and the
length of the course.
Sections 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13
The Faculties of CSU - Detailed course information
The next five sections examine the courses offered in each of CSU's
five Faculties - Arts, Commerce, Education, Health Studies and Science
& Agriculture. Courses offered by the Australian Graduate School of
Police Management (AGSPM) are listed in Section 13. Each course listing
contains information on course length and mode, admission requirements,
course structure and who to contact for further information.
Section 14 - Postgraduate subject descriptions
The final part of the Handbook contains an overview of every postgraduate
subject offered at CSU. As the listing is alpha-neumeric, you may need
to check in the course outline for the subject code.
Section 15, 16, 17 - Awards, Prizes and Scholarships
These sections of the handbook contain information relating to the awards,
prizes and scholarships available, both campus specific and industry wide.
Traineeship information and details of Honorary Award Recipients are also
included.
