Graduate Certificate in LOTE (Languages Other Than English) Teaching

This course is intended to service the professional development of practising or aspiring teachers of LOTE. The LOTE methods studies in the course are of benefit to both and are of increasing importance given the rising number of languages to be offered in schools.

Course requirements

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete four compulsory subjects (eight subject points each to the total value of 32 subject points) and teaching practicum requirements.

Residential schools

There are no residential schools in this course.

Practicum

Students who are not qualified teachers will be required to complete 20 hours of practical teaching experience. Students wishing to undertake more than 20 hours may negotiate this with the language practicum coordinator.

Students who are qualified teachers will be required to undertake 10 hours of collaborative teaching.
