Subject to regulation and approval, candidates may conduct their research at other places where adequate facilities and co-supervisors are available. The direction of the work remains under the control of the University supervisor.

Admission requirements

To qualify for candidature applicants must hold:

  • · a relevant Honours degree (minimum Level 2 Division 1);
  • · a relevant four year degree;
  • · a relevant three year degree plus graduate diploma;
  • or

  • · a relevant three year degree plus a demonstrated research ability and additional study.

  • Admission to candidature is subject to approval by the Board of Graduate Studies.

    Credit for previous study

    Credit is not available for this course.

    Course requirements

    To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete a period of study and research, and prepare a thesis at an adequate standard as assessed by examiners external to the University.

    Students will enrol in one of the following discipline based research subjects for the period of their candidature:

  • PRH602 Master Research (Environmental Science) full-time
  • PRH603 Master Research (Environmental Science) extension*
  • SCI601 Master Research (Applied Science) part-time
  • SCI602 Master Research (Applied Science) full-time
  • SCI603 Master Research (Applied Science) extension*
  • * Enrolment in these subjects occurs after completion of three years (full-time) or six years (part-time).

    Additional subjects may be added following approval by the Board of Graduate Studies.
