| The subject describes and discusses the evolution of birds from reptiles, the descent of birds and the biogeographical origins of extant orders and families. It investigates and interprets methods of determining descent and the information provided by traditional and current techniques using case studies. The subject examines recent research into genetics, natural selection and evolution at the population and landscape levels.
