The course aims to:
increase the professional capabilities of the advocate, prosecutor or adjudicator; develop the existing knowledge and experience of practitioners; foster critical reflection upon those ethical, legal and practical issues which impact upon a case before the course or other tribunal; provide formal recognition of the unique professional advocacy role of the police prosecutor.

Applicants normally must have completed the Diploma of Policing, Diploma of Applied Policing, or the equivalent; or five or more years as a NSW Police Service Police Prosecutor or the equivalent.
The Bachelor of Policing (Prosecutions) requires the completion of at least five subjects:
Students admitted on the basis of professional experience may be required to take up to three additional subjects. Completion of the NSW Police Service Prosecutors Course or its equivalent is a requirement for graduation from the course.
