Bachelor of Policing (Prosecutions)

The course aims to:

  • increase the professional capabilities of the advocate, prosecutor or adjudicator;
  • develop the existing knowledge and experience of practitioners;
  • foster critical reflection upon those ethical, legal and practical issues which impact upon a case before the course or other tribunal;
  • provide formal recognition of the unique professional advocacy role of the police prosecutor.

    Admission criteria

    Applicants normally must have completed the Diploma of Policing, Diploma of Applied Policing, or the equivalent; or five or more years as a NSW Police Service Police Prosecutor or the equivalent.

    Course requirements

    The Bachelor of Policing (Prosecutions) requires the completion of at least five subjects:

  • JST201 Criminal Law and Process
  • JST202 Evidence and Procedure
  • JST303 Ethics and Professional Practice
  • JST313 Investigative Interviewing
  • [ ] Elective
  • Students admitted on the basis of professional experience may be required to take up to three additional subjects. Completion of the NSW Police Service Prosecutors Course or its equivalent is a requirement for graduation from the course.
