Admission criteria

The purpose of this Honours course is to provide the student with an understanding of the role of research as applied to the practice of Graphic Design and the related user industries.

The Honours program in Graphic Design is available to applicants who have been awarded, or who are eligible to graduate, with a Bachelor of Arts (Graphic Design) or applicants who have a comparable degree from another institution.

Applicants must have achieved a minimum of a credit grade average and, a distinction or better in third level `major' studio subjects or have achieved comparable grades from another institution.

In addition, all applicants must submit a written proposal outlining:

  • the nature of the topic to be undertaken in GRP402 Graphic Design Research Project;
  • field of research including appropriate historical and contemporary references;
  • the expected outcomes of the Project;
  • timelines for the completion of each component of the Project.
  • The written submission must be accompanied by:

  • supporting evidence in the form of visual material (slide, video, CD Rom or other appropriate form).
  • The Project topic and the methodology may not be changed except with the approval of the Honours Coordinator.

    The Faculty may, on the advice of the Honours Coordinator, admit applicants deemed to possess qualifications or background equivalent to the above standard admissions criteria.

    Course requirements

    To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 64 subject points.
