ART218 Analysis and Image Development (8)

Abstract

This subject is designed to broaden the students range of expertise and understanding in Fine Arts. Students are encouraged to experiment widely with techniques and concepts to expand their analytical abilities. The subject is based on a series of assignments initiated by the subject coordinator/lecturer.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
Upon completion of this subject students will be able to:

- show an understanding of the relationship between visual research, experimentation and the final product;
- show a consolidated approach to technical skills in arts practice;
- demonstrate an understanding of the self-discipline and working methods required in developing concepts and images into resolved works;
- exhibit an increasingly professional approach to studio practice and work presentation;
- challenge and expand "self" concept as a creative individual.

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
Topics will include for example: - continued study in two and where appropriate three dimensional forms; - the analysis and development of imagery; - the relationship of drawing to the two and where appropriate three dimensional image; - the role of the artist as a communicator; - arts practice as a reflection of society.
