Abstract

This subject encourages students to initiate strategies necessary to develop an understanding of the relationships between technical knowledge, research and intent. Minor Study 4 is available in Drawing, Illustration, Painting, Textile, Silversmithing.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

Initiate strategies for research and concept development;
Demonstrate sensibility and individual approach to visual solutions;
Demonstrate the capacity to develop the conceptual process to a final realisation through sound research methodologies and technical competency.

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
Material and Process: contemporary arts practices Approaches to problem solving: materials:experiment and outcomes materials, technique and process form, initial commission to final submission Research/Investigation: practitioners: field of enquiry, development, context, intent, final consideration across two and three dimensional fields of art and design.
