Abstract

The research subject for the Doctor of Communication. This subject requires the candidate to carry out a series of investigations on a topic within the professional field of communication selected by the student in conjunction with the student's supervisors. The results of these investigations will be written up as a Dissertation or a Portfolio of research cases and exegesis and presented for examination.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
The results of each candidate's research shall be presented as a Dissertation or a Portfolio of three research cases and exegesis which along with coursework will be the basis of assessment for the awarding of the degree. The research program will be examined by two examiners who shall examine the projets according to the following criteria:-
- the candidates understanding of the fold of study
- the originality of the work embodied in the research projects
- the significance of the research projects as a contribution to knowledge in the field of study
- the adequacy of the research methodology
- the worthiness of the research findings for publication.

The results of the research portfolio examination of 128 credit point will be added to the successful completion of the 64 credit point coursework and research preparation subjects for the award of the degree.

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
- a series of investigations within the professional field of communication of the candidate - a series of three related research areas written up as research projects - a Portfolio and exegesis based on the research projects presented in written form for examination
