HRS417 Science Honours Project/Dissertation (16)

This is a research subject available only to students enrolled in certain integrated Honours courses in the Faculty of Science. Students enrolled in this subject will extend their knowledge and skills in their area of specialisation. Students will work directly with their supervisor(s) to review relevant research literature, plan and conduct a research project, and prepare a comprehensive written report on their research activities and findings.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge in their area of specialisation;
  • identify a clear research question in their area of specialisation, based on a critical review of relevant literature;
  • design and conduct a research project, including the selection and application of appropriate research methods;
  • obtain human/animal ethics approval (if required);
  • prepare a comprehensive written report on their research activities and findings.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Undertake a research project in an appropriate field of research, under the guidance of the supervisory team
  • Undertake School-specific Honours requirements as advised by the School Honours Co-ordinator
  • Undertake discipline-specific Honours requirements as advised by the Principal Supervisor in liaison with the School Honours Co-ordinator
