LIT101 Language and Text (8)

The subject deepens students' literacy through the exploration of the links between reading and writing in a literate society. Students will be introduced to a range of language forms, features and structures of texts and the ways these shape meaning and influence responses in different contexts.  Students will focus on their own capacity in writing and reading comprehension;  the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) diagnostic test and resources are explicitly built into the pedagogy and assessment of the subject as a way of preparing students for the LANTITE test which must be passed by all Pre-Service Teachers across all States and Territories in Australia.  Students will gain foundational knowledge of the range of Australian literature and develop the ability to present critical personal responses to texts.
