MGT569 The Leadership Challenge (8)

The Leadership Challenge subject aims to develop students' personal leadership capabilities. Students have the opportunity to explore leadership challenges and aspects of change in themselves and in the team/organisation/community context. Students will undertake leadership development exercise(s) in response to contemporary leadership challenges and compare their own perception of leadership abilities with that of their colleagues. Using experiential learning and critical reflection, students will develop a blueprint for leadership practice.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to identify, articulate and discuss individual leadership capacity and capability;
  • be able to build a distinctive leadership identity around leadership theory and research, congruent with assessment of personal capabilities and organisational context;
  • be able to develop own leadership practice based on personal and ethical values through self-assessment and self-reflection; and
  • be able to apply concepts of self-leadership and identify opportunities to practice leadership in the context of relationships, workplaces and society.
