PHS405 Transition to Physiotherapy Practice (16)

'Transition to Physiotherapy Practice' is a capstone subject enhancing transition from student to graduate health professional. The subject develops skills in professional self-management, critical thinking and reflection, communication, leadership and gaining employment. It also builds awareness of ethical and legal practice requirements, contexts of contemporary and future health care practice, work place culture and non-clinical work requirements. Interprofessional collaboration will be developed and extended through a module completed with students from other health care disciplines. A capstone clinical placement is included within this subject, and will expand students' abilities to apply their professional skills and knowledge. During their five week workplace learning experience, students are expected to attain levels of professional practice expected of a new graduate, as consistent with contemporary standards of physiotherapy clinical practice. Students enrolling in this subject will be assumed to have a high level of knowledge, a broad range of clinical experiences in physiotherapy practice, and a capacity to manage their own learning journey.
